How does a dehumidifier work?

Essential if you're drying laundry inside or your home is prone to condensation, dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air. They work by drawing air in through a vent. This air is then passed over cold coils, where any water vapour in the air condenses into water droplets. These water droplets collect in a removable chamber, which will need to be emptied regularly. With any excess moisture removed, the air is then recirculated into the room.

How much does a dehumidifier cost to run?

Dehumidifiers nowadays are highly energy efficient, making them cheap to run. The actual cost will depend on your electricity tariff and how many kWh your particular appliance requires to run - check the packaging or product description to find this out. On average, a dehumidifier will cost 2-5 pence per hour to run.
