Dining Room Furniture

Shop dining sets or build your own look

If you're kitting out a dining room from scratch, a complete set takes the guesswork out of matching a table to chairs. If you already have a table you love, our tables and chairs are also sold separately, so you can mix materials - like pairing a wooden table with upholstered or metal-framed chairs, or adding bar chairs to your high table - to give your home a dash of contrast and personality.

Find the right table and seating for dining

Think about how many people you need to seat day to day, then allow a little extra room for guests. As a guide, allow around 60cm of table width per person so everyone has enough elbow room, with at least 90cm of clearance around the table for chairs to be pulled out comfortably.

Round and square tables can work well in smaller spaces, while rectangular and oval designs give you more room for larger households. If you regularly need extra seats, an extending dining table gives you the flexibility to accommodate more people when hosting.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best material for a dining table?

Solid wood is hard-wearing and easy to repair over time, making it a strong choice for family homes. Glass and marble-effect tops give a more contemporary look but show marks more easily, while ceramic tops resist scratches and heat well.

Do dining chairs need to match the table?

No, mixing materials and finishes, such as a wooden table with upholstered or metal-framed chairs, is a popular way to add contrast. If you'd rather keep things simple, a complete dining set takes care of the matching for you.
